In terms of section 19 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000, a meeting of the Siyanda District Municipality will be held on the 3rd of June 2011 at 10h00 in the Siyanda Council Chambers.

The Election of the Speaker, Executive Mayor and the swearing in of the newly elected councillors as political office bearers is expected to take place.
Members of the public and the media are invited to attend the meeting as observers.

On the 6th May 2011 the Siyanda District Municipality held its last Council meeting with the current Council. The current Council was elected in 2006 and the forth local government elections looming, its term will come to an end. The next local government elections will be held on the 18th May 2011 and subsequent to this a new Council will be elected.



During the Council meeting, the Budget 2011/12 and the IDP 2011/12 were approved by Council. The Executive Mayor in tabling these two important documents indicated that it is the responsibility of Council to ensure that service delivery plans are implemented and that local government works better for the people. The decisions Council took over the last 5 years have contributed to improving the quality of life of our people.
The Executive Mayor thanked the Council for their hard work and strong political leadership, and also thanked the personnel of Siyanda.
The Municipal Manager on his turn thanked Council for the trust that they have placed in the Administration.
